§ Mr. Peter BottomleyTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will calculate for a building society starting business on 1 May 1982, paying or crediting interest in the period between 1 January and 5 April, up to April 1986, the total period of business, the total period on which interest would be taxed if clause 50 is enacted and the excess period of taxation.
§ Mr. Maples[holding answer 1 July 1991]: I am not aware of any building society starting business on 1 May 1982.
