§ Ms. GordonTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the total number of people employed in Tower Hamlets in(a) Tower Hamlets health authority, (b) Royal London hospital trust, (c) family practitioner service, (d) dental service and (e) other health-related occupations for each year since 1979.
§ Mr. Stephen DorrellThe table provides the figures requested in Tower Hamlets authority from 1982, the earliest date available, to 1989, the latest available. Figures up to 1985 include family practitioner committee staff. It is not possible now to distinguish between family practitioner committee and district health authority figures for those years. On 1 April 1985 family practitioner committees became independent employing authorities. District health authority figures after that date, therefore, exclude FPC staff. Information in respect of the number of people employed by family practitioner committees since 1985 is not held centrally.
Information about the numbers employed by the Royal London hospital trust and other related occupations is not collected centrally.
