To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when revised permitted development rights for the installation of satellite dishes will come into force.

My right hon. Friend and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales have today laid before the House the Town and Country Planning General Development (Amendment) Order 1991. This order will come into force on 31 July. It will:

  1. (a) introduce stricter permitted development rights for the installation, alternation and replacement of satellite dishes:
  2. (b) allow factory/warehouse extensions built as permitted development to be used for social or welfare purposes for employees, including creche facilities for their children;
  3. (c) introduce permitted development rights to enable licensed operators of driver information systems to instal the necessary equipment, subject to size limitations; and
