HC Deb 01 July 1991 vol 194 c15W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many buses are currently being operated in the Greater London area; what the figures were 10 and 15 years ago; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

London Transport tells me that, excluding Green Line routes, there are currently 4,910 buses in the Greater London area operated by London Buses Ltd. or under agreement with, or under contract to, London Transport. The figures for 10 and 15 years ago were 5,094 and 5,611 respectively. The figure of 4,910 does not include buses operated under London local service licences.
