HL Deb 31 January 1991 vol 525 c34WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which countries the United Kingdom and the United States have approached for financial support for the military operations in the Gulf; whether such approaches are co-ordinated; and how much money has been given or pledged.

Lord Reay

The United Kingdom continues to approach a number of countries who may be willing to contribute. We have already been pledged substantial financial and other support from Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia and other countries. It is for the other members of the coalition to make their own approaches, but of course we are in regular touch with them about all aspects of operations in the Gulf.
