§ 19. Mr. McAllionTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the progress of the Uruguay round of the GATT and its implications for the manufacturing sector in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. LilleyAs I said earlier, negotiations in the Uruguay round are continuing, and we hope they will yield 223W results which will be of substantial benefit to United Kingdom industry. As we export about a quarter of what we produce, we stand to gain from the opening up of world markets, and to share in the greater wealth that trade generates.
