HL Deb 27 February 1991 vol 526 c52WA
Lord Tordoff

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What percentage of planning appeals are decided by the Secretaries of State within 8, 52, 78, and 104 weeks of receiving an inspector's report.

Baroness Blatch

Information is not available in the form requested. In 1990, 410 planning appeals were decided by the Secretary of State for the Environment (rather than by his inspectors). Of these, 59.5 per cent. were decided within eight weeks of receiving the inspector's report, and a further 13.5 per cent. within 13 weeks. The Secretary of State for Wales decided 29 such appeals in the same period. Sixty-two per cent. of these were decided within eight weeks and a further 7 per cent. within 13 weeks.
