§ Mr. Michael Forsyth[holding answer 11 February 1991]: It would be for a health board to consider whether current and likely future demand could justify the considerable capital investment involved in providing a second lithotripsy service. However, since the existing service can treat urgent cases within a few days and routine cases within two weeks, it is unlikely that the case for such investment could be made in the foreseeable future.
