HL Deb 20 February 1991 vol 526 cc28-9WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will propose alterations to the EC Council mandate for the GATT negotiations on agriculture to ensure that they are successfully concluded in the interests of British industry and commerce.

Baroness Trumpington

The European Commission is continuing to negotiate in close consultation with member states on the basis of the offer which the Council of Ministers approved in November. The UK Government continue to urge the Commission to work hard for a successful conclusion of the negotiation on all subjects including agriculture as soon as can be achieved.
