asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will protest to the EC Commission about recent substantial increases in CAP restitution payments on dairy products which have lowered world prices and disrupted the traditional export markets of nations exporting dairy products.

The EC Commission increased export refunds on certain dairy products with effect from 20th July 1990. The UK protested strongly at the time, and continues to argue against maintenance of the increased rates of refund.
