HC Deb 20 February 1991 vol 186 c153W
Mr. Hunter

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what provision is currently made for children with severe learning difficulties, extreme challenging behaviour and autism; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dorrell

Much provision for such children is made within the education service, which is the responsibility of my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science. Health authorities and social services departments provide a range of services including treatment, respite and long-term residential care, and support to families.
