HC Deb 14 February 1991 vol 185 c587W
Mr. Grylls

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list the firms and trade organisations the deregulation unit consulted over their new legislation on statutory sick pay and the outcome of these consultations.

Mr. Scott

Following the introduction of the Statutory Sick Pay Bill on 8 November 1990, a copy of the Bill and press release were sent to all employers and organisations represented on the Department's employers panel. Subsequently, Ministers and/or officials have discussed the proposals with the Confederation of British Industry, the National Federation of the Self Employed and Small Businesses, the Forum of Private Businesses and the National Farmers Union. In addition, Ministers have responded to some 200 written representations, mainly from hon. Members on behalf of employers and their organisations.

The Government have introduced a scheme for small employers' relief to assist small employers with the cost of the statutory sick pay changes.
