§ Dr. MawhinneyAction to cut off sources of terrorist finance is a vital part of the Government's strategy for ending terrorism in Northern Ireland. Recent action (led by the RUC) has been successful in curtailing the flow of 569W money from a number of traditional sources—including extortion. Parliament is currently being asked to strengthen the law against more sophisticated forms of terrorist financing.
