§ Mr. HinchliffeTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what amount of used solvent is imported to the United Kingdom; and what proportion of this is(a) originally exported from the United Kingdom and (b) imported to the manufacturer for disposal.
§ Mr. Baldry[holding answer 11 February 1991]: The import of used solvent which is special waste is subject to the Control of Pollution (Special Waste) Regulations 1980. Records of shipments made under these regulations are maintained by the disposal authorities concerned and not by the Department. The producer of the waste is identified but not the manufacturer of the original solvent.
