HC Deb 11 February 1991 vol 185 c344W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what discussions he has had with the Royal College of Nursing concerning the setting of standards for breast care nurses; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

Standards of nursing care are a matter for the profession. Representatives from the NHS breast screening programme, in partnership with the Royal College of Nursing, are in the advanced stages of determining standards for nurses working in the programme's assessment centres. General standards for breast care nurses are being drawn up with the breast care nurses forum at the Royal College of Nursing.
