HC Deb 06 February 1991 vol 185 c186W
29. Mr. John Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received advocating the imposition of restrictions on Sunday trading in Scotland.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

In the previous 12 months one representation has been received advocating the imposition of restrictions on Sunday trading in Scotland.

30. Mr. Robert G. Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what consideration he has given to changes in the Scottish Sunday trading laws.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

With one small exception relating to hairdressers and barbers, the restrictions on Sunday trading in the Shops Act 1950 do not apply in Scotland. My right hon. Friend has no present proposals for changes in the existing law.
