§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe restored diplomatic relations with Iran on 27 September 1990 on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in each others affairs. We are grateful for the role the Iranian Government played in securing the release of British and other hostages. We hope that the relationship with Iran will continue to evolve in a positive direction.
