The Lord Bishop of Worcester

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In view of the commitments given at the World Summit for Children in 1990, when they will ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; on what date they will publish its plan of action setting out how the United Kingdom will implement the convention; and to which areas the Government give priority for immediate action.

The UK ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child on 16th December 1991. Progress is being made towards extending ratification to the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and dependent territories. A copy of the instrument of ratification has been placed in the Library of the House.
