§ 14. Mr. SkinnerTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he has any plans for new political initiatives in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BrookeI am currently in contact with the main constitutional parties in Northern Ireland and the Irish Government, to see whether a new basis for fresh talks can be established. I am pleased to say that there is a general desire to make substantive progress in the period before the election and a general acceptance that the key elements of my statement to the House on 26 March 1991 should apply in any fresh talks.
