§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonElectoral registration officers have a responsibility, under the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 1986, to satisfy themselves that the electoral register properly contains the names of those entitled to be registered. It is for electoral registration officers themselves to decide how they should fulfil this requirement.
