To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on the level of funding of the Northern regional health authority.

Mr. Dorrell

Between 1978–79 and 1990–91, Northern regional health authority's total revenue expenditure increased in real terms by 33.2 per cent. and their capital expenditure by 35.5 per cent. In 1991–92 Northern regional health authority's main revenue allocation increased by £91.5 million, or 10.24 per cent. cash, bringing the total allocation for their resident population to £985.3 million. Their main capital allocation rose by 19.1 per cent. cash to £77 million.
