When they expect to introduce in Northern Ireland a system of unit fines for offences, where fines are the appropriate penalty.
§ The Paymaster General (Lord Belstead)A project designed to test the practicalities of a unit fine system in Northern Ireland will be introduced in Newtownards Magistrates' Court on 6th January 1992 for a period of six months. Following the study, consideration will be given to the introduction of unit fines on a statutory basis in magistrates' courts throughout the Province.
