HL Deb 02 December 1991 vol 533 cc2-3WA
Lord Balfour of Inchrye

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their response to the recommendations for teaching music in schools put forward in the final report of the National Curriculum Music Working Group.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (Baroness Blatch)

The response of my right honourable friends the Secretaries of State for Education and Science and for Wales is contained in their proposals for music for ages 5 to 14 published in August, a copy of which was placed in the Library. These proposals are currently the subject of a consultation exercise undertaken in England by the National Curriculum Council and in Wales by the Secretary of State for Wales.
