To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of women manual and non-manual workers in Northumberland earned less than £120 per week in the last year for which figures are available.

It is estimated from the "New Earnings Survey" that in April 1990, 36.5 per cent. of manual and 19.1 per cent. of non-manual full-time female employees on adult rates in Northumberland, whose pay for the survey pay period was not affected by absence, had gross weekly earnings less than £120.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is the figure below which the lowest paid 10 per cent. of manual and non-manual women workers earned in the county of Northumberland, in the last year for which figures are available.

It is estimated from the "New Earnings Survey" that in April 1990, the figures below which 10 per cent. of female manual and non-manual employees earned in Northumberland were £96.70 and £105.60 respectively, for full-time female employees on adult rates, whose pay for the survey pay period was not affected by absence.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what are the average earnings for manual and non-manual women workers in the county of Northumberland in the last year for which figures are available.

It is estimated from the "New Earnings Survey" that in April 1990, average gross weekly earnings in Northumberland were £140.40 for manual and £183.90 for non-manual full-time female employees on adult rates, whose pay for the survey pay period was not affected by absence.
