HL Deb 23 April 1991 vol 528 c4WA
Lord Denning

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Following the Answer of the Baroness Blatch of 28th March 1991 (H.L. Deb., col. WA 70), whether the Secretary of State was put on inquiry by the absence of any such request from the parishes in the Diocese of Leicester; and whether, in the absence of any such request, it would be fair and reasonable for the Secretary of State to treat the Leicester parishes on the same footing as the parishes in other dioceses (in which the prevailing practice is to allocate three-fourteenths to the parishes as set out in paragraph 11.19 of the Report of the Archbishops' Commission on Rural Areas).

Baroness Blatch

The Secretary of State does not view as remarkable the absence of a request for a Sunday School Fund from the trustees of the various foundations included in the proposed order for the Diocese of Leicester. It is for the individual bodies of trustees to decide whether the need exists locally for such a fund and whether, therefore, one should be requested.
