§ Mr. Andrew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list the subject areas at Oxford polytechnic for which Her Majesty's inspectors were not able to give advise on the quality of provision to the programme advisory groups of the Polytechnics and Colleges Funding Council when they were considering bids for 1991–92.
§ Mr. Alan HowarthOxford polytechnic claimed outstanding quality in eight of the nine Polytechnics and Colleges Funding Council programme areas as part of its bid for funds in 1991–92. Her Majesty's inspectorate had sufficient recent inspection evidence to offer advice to the appropriate PCFC programme advisory group on the majority of these claims. The exceptions were some aspects of programme area 2 (built environment) and programme area 9b (in-service education).
