HC Deb 18 April 1991 vol 189 cc252-3W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give for each health board the number, in both absolute and percentage terms, of physiological measurement technicians in each of the new pay scale categories.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

An agreement concluded by the Professional and Technical Staffs "B" Whitley Council in September 1989 introduced a new pay and grading structure for various groups of technicians in the NHS. Physiological measurement technicians were assigned to one of the eight medical technical officer (MTO) grades which are assistant, senior assistant, trainee and grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Health boards have stated that on 30 September 1990 the number of staff formerly graded as physiological measurement technicians in each of the MTO grades is as set out in the following tables.
