Mr. Redwood

Timeshare advertisements are subject to the Control of Misleading Advertisements Regulations 1988 and in some respects to the Trade Descriptions Act 1968, as well as to the self regulatory regime operated by the Advertising Standards Authority.

The Director General of Fair Trading published a report on timesharing in July 1990 which included proposals for extending the Trade Descriptions Act to cover award schemes. These proposals are being considered as part of a current general review of the Act.
