HL Deb 31 October 1990 vol 522 cc1888-9WA
The Earl of Onslow

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they expect to lay before Parliament the 1989–90 annual reports and accounts of the remaining residuary bodies.

Baroness Blatch

The 1989–90 annual reports and statements of accounts of the London, West Midlands and West Yorkshire residuary bodies were laid before Parliament today. A copy of the Secretary of State's direction under Section 78(2) of the Local Government Act 1985 as to the content and structure of the accounts has been placed in the library of the House. The RBs' reports provide continuing evidence of the impressive progress which they have made in discharging the responsibilities they inherited from the Greater London Council and the metropolitan county councils. Among other achievements in 1989–90, over £108 million in capital receipts were realised from sales of surplus property, which have been distributed for the benefit of local charge payers.
