HL Deb 30 October 1990 vol 522 c1837WA
Lord Monkswell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action they are taking to safeguard the visiting rights of families of prisoners in police custody during Operation Container.

Earl Ferrers

Responsibility for domestic visits to prisoners in police cells lies with the chief officer of the police force concerned. Greater Manchester Police allow daily visits subject to other operational commitments, and advise other forces assisting in Operation Container to do likewise.
