To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects the inquiry by the Devon and Cornwall police into the Birmingham pub bombings to be complete; and if he will make a statement.

In the light of new information discovered by the Devon and Cornwall constabulary, my right hon. and learned Friend referred the cases of the Birmingham Six to the Court of Appeal on 29 August. Any further police inquiries into these cases in connection with the hearing before the Court of Appeal are a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
