HL Deb 29 November 1990 vol 523 cc40-1WA
Lord McCluskey

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which of the applications received from voluntary sector organisations for funding under the European Social Fund Vocational Training Programme have been approved and when the funds payable in respect of approved applications are to be paid to the voluntary sector organisations concerned.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Viscount Ullswater)

The Department of Employment has received some 500 applications in 1990 from the voluntary sector (out of a total of 2,500 applications). These applications are now being processed and those from the voluntary sector are being given priority.

Decisions on the great bulk of the applications will be notified to the voluntary sector by the end of November 1990, and the majority of payments are expected to be made by next January.
