Mr. Cummings

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list the number of social fund applications submitted, accepted or rejected over the last two years at the Seaham and Peterlee offices.

Mr. Scott

Details of applications processed and awards made can be obtained from information placed in the Library.

Mr. Frank Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many and what percentage of households claiming income support are repaying social fund loans by deductions from their benefit payments.

Mr. Scott

[pursuant to his reply, 24 October 1990, c. 226]I regret that information used to calculate the percentage of income support recipients repaying social fund loans was misinterpreted. Currently 10 per cent, of income support recipients are repaying social fund loans.
