To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will show the breakdown by Wales, Scotland and the standard regions of England of(a) moneys disbursed on education directly by central Government and (b) university grant awards, exclusive of parental contributions whether by central Government or local authorities for the latest year for which figures are available.

Comparable information for other higher education insitutions is not available centrally.

Information on the qualifications of university academic staff is collected by USR but not published separately.

It is for institutions to judge the qualifications of all academic staff entering their employment.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many persons 17 and 19 years, respectively, per thousand are in full-time education in England, Scotland and Britain's major economic competitors.
