To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what recent representations he has received on proposals to privatise prisons.

A number of those who responded to the recent discussion paper "Court escorts, Custody and Security" also referred to our plans to introduce competitive tendering for the operation of the remand centre which is under development at Everthorpe, Humberside. Their views are being considered.
