HC Deb 01 November 1990 vol 178 c730W
22. Mr. Butler

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what measures he intends to take to reduce the level of crime in Cheshire.

Mr. John Patten

Decisions about the deployment of police resources in Cheshire are an operational matter for the chief constable. But we can all help to reduce crime by taking sensible preventive measures of the kind set out in the Government's booklet "Practical Ways to Crack Crime", and I am pleased to note that there are now over 4,000 neighbourhood watch schemes in the county, covering more than 120,000 households.
