27. Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he will next meet the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis to discuss crime prevention measures in the metropolis.

The House will be aware that the commissioner suffered a heart attack on the afternoon of 29 October and is at present in St. Thomas's hospital. All hon. Members will want to wish Sir Peter a speedy recovery and offer their sympathy to Lady Imbert. While Sir Peter is indisposed, the Metropolitan police will be under the command of the deputy commissioner, Sir John Dellow, and my right hon. and learned Friend will be meeting him shortly to discuss a range of matters.
