§ Mr. DorrellHealth Departments' expenditure figures for the United Kingdom are available on a financial year basis only and because of changes in definition it is not possible to produce a consistent run of figures beginning before 1974–75. Figures as requested for the period 1975–76 to 1989–90 are set out in the table.
