HL Deb 22 May 1990 vol 519 cc889-90WA
Lord Dormand of Easington

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the conditions on which government funding is provided for Training and Enterprise Councils and how much funding has been provided to the latest available date.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Lord Strathclyde)

Individual Training and Enterprise Councils (TECs) are allocated development funding based on outline proposals they put forward to establish a TEC. To date £6.470m has been allocated to TECs in the form of development funding.

As part of their development phase, TECs prepare their corporate and business plans. It is on the basis of these plans that budgets are negotiated with individual TECs. The average annual budget for a TEC is expected to be between £5m and £40m.
