HC Deb 21 May 1990 vol 173 c33W
Sir David Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations Her Majesty's Government have made to the Government of Sri Lanka about the murder of one of the country's Members of Parliament and its implications for human rights.

Mr. Sainsbury

We have not raised with the Sri Lankan Government the specific case of the murder of Mr. Sam Tambimuttu. But we have consistently made clear our concern at the level of violence and human rights abuses in Sri Lanka.
