HC Deb 21 May 1990 vol 173 cc64-5W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his latest information concerning the specification for a Llanllyfni bypass on the A487 trunk road; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Grist

Gwynedd county council is carrying out a feasibility study of possible options for improvements between Caerau and Llanwnda which includes Llanllyfni and a draft report has been submitted to the Department for consideration.

Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is(a) the purpose and (b) the cost of the road reconstruction which has been undertaken over recent weeks on the A487 trunk road between Felinheli and Caernarfon, in the vicinity of Griffith's Crossing; and what criteria determined the timing of this work.

Mr. Grist

The reconstruction works, costing £247,130 are necessary to strengthen the trunk road and maintain it in a safe condition. Timing was influenced by the need for reasonable weather conditions while avoiding the peak holiday months of July and August.
