§ Ms. ShortTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much family credit rose in real terms using the statutory uprating dates of September to September between 1988–89 and 1990–91 for (i) a single parent with one child under 11 years and (ii) a couple with two children under 11 years old.
§ Mrs. Gillian ShephardThe family credit rates for 1990–91 represent increases over those for 1988–89 which exceed the rise in the RPI (excluding housing costs) over the two-year period to September 1989 by the following overall amounts:
- (1) for a couple or lone parent with one child under 11:£2.70 or 6.4 per cent.
- (2) for a couple or lone parent with two children under 11:£4.30 or 8.9 per cent.
