To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many children and young persons, having been charged by the police, were transferred to the care of the local authority or detained by the police in pursuance of section 38(6) Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 in the last two years for which figures are available; and how this total figure is subdivided by police force area and local authority area.
