§ Mr. Peter LloydA total of 2,906 claims have been received from applicants in England and Wales for payments under the Government buy-in scheme for weapons newly prohibited under the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988. Of these claims, 2,727 have had payments authorised and 73 have been refused as ineligible under the scheme. A further 106 claims have yet to be determined. These will be resolved as soon as we are able to determine their eligibility.

§ Mr. Peter LloydA total of 2,906 applicants in England and Wales have submitted claims in respect of 3,607 weapons, surrendered to the police or otherwise disposed of, for a payment under the Government buy-in scheme. Separate figures on the number of weapons surrendered to the police and the number otherwise disposed of are not collected centrally.
