HC Deb 29 March 1990 vol 170 cc306-7W
32. Mr. Janman

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a further statement on inward investment.

Mr. Needham

Recent successes and current levels of interest by potential investors in the far east, United States and Europe suggest that an increasing number of companies are prepared to give serious consideration to investment in Northern Ireland.

39. Mr. Burns

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is being done to promote overseas investment in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Needham

Our efforts are concentrated on major markets for mobile investment, with increasing emphasis on the far east and the USA, and sectorally in areas where Northern Ireland has particular strengths.

47. Mr. Beggs

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the benefits of advance factory provision and availability of sites with development planning approval in attracting inward investment to Northern Ireland.

Mr. Needham

The IDB's advance factories provide high quality and immediately available industrial accommodation for inward investors who may wish to purchase or rent premises. Twelve such factories are currently available throughout the Province. Serviced industrially zoned land provides investors with the opportunity to acquire sites quickly and at market price for early project implementation. Some 500 acres of fully serviced land are available in the major centres of population.
