§ Mrs. MahonTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) if he will make representations to the Government in Guatemala on the abduction on 27 February of Benjamin Diaz Arévalo, a student at the universidad de San Carlos in Guatemala;
(2) if he will make representations to the Guatemalan Government concerning the safety of Carlos Luna, a student of the San Carlos university, Guatemala city.
§ Mr. MaudeWe are making inquiries about these cases. We will continue to monitor the human rights situation and make representations when appropriate, either acting alone or in concert with our European partners. The Guatemalan authorities are in no doubt about the concern felt in this country about human rights violations in Guatemala.
