To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people sat public educational examinations in(a) politics (b) constitutional studies and (c) political history in 1989.

The Scottish Examination Board does not offer examinations in any of these subjects. Figures for presentations in these subjects in the further and higher education sectors are not collected centrally.

visitors, community nursing, educational services, social services, speech therapists in other districts, from self-referrals and other sources;

(2) if he will provide statistics relating to the percentages of people receiving speech therapy services who have associated mobility problems or a level of social-economic difficulty.

Member for East Lothian (Mr. Home Robertson) on 20 December,Official Report, column 296, if he will provide details of the numbers of speech therapists employed by each regional education authority in Scotland during the past five years for which figures are available.

[holding answer 27 March 1990]: Speech therapists are employed almost exclusively by health boards which provide the service for education authorities. The table shows the whole-time equivalent numbers of speech therapists employed by health boards at the latest available date and at the corresponding date in each of the years 1985–88.
