HL Deb 27 March 1990 vol 517 c863WA
Lord Jenkins of

Putney asked Her Majesty's Government:

What volumes of low, intermediate and high level waste have been, are being and will be created at Sellafield from contracts already signed to reprocess foreign spent nuclear fuel and what plans there are for disposal of the waste.

Viscount Ullswater

The latest estimates of wastes arising from all existing contracts for the reprocessing of overseas spent fuel at Sellafield are:

cubic metres
high level waste 400
intermediate level waste 10,000
low level waste 80,000

For the Government's policy on the disposal of such wastes, I refer the noble Lord to the answer given by my honourable friend the Member for Eddisbury (Mr. Goodlad) to the honourable Member for Great Grimsby (Mr. Mitchell) on 2nd May 1986 at cols. 502–503.
