§ Lord Newallasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether a decision has yet been made on a special annual quota for this year of work permits for workers from the Dependent Territories whose level of skill is below that required by the general work permit scheme.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Lord Strathclyde)The arrangements for a special annual quota are kept under review. I can confirm, however, that it has been decided that there should be a quota for 1990 of 200—the same as last year. Within the figure of 200 no more than 150 permits will be allowed for any one territory.
