HC Deb 23 March 1990 vol 169 c761W
1989. Mr. Cohen

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total publicity and advertising expenditure including for privatisation, of his Department and public bodies for which his Department has responsibility in(a)1979 and (b)

Mr. Ryder

Total expenditure on publicity and advertising by HM Treasury in 1989–90 is estimated at £550,525. That figure does not include any provision for privatisation-related expenditure for which there was no requirement in 1989–90. Actual expenditure will not be known until after the close of the financial year. Comparable figures for the year 1979–80 are not available because of machinery of Government changes, and could be given only at disproportionate cost.
